General Activities Of FOD

Each activity of FOD is targeted to make the disabled people feel more secure and gain more confidence.

Some of the general activities that FOD is always occupied with are:

Arranging Aids and Appliances for Disabled
FOD has been providing aids and appliances free of cost to people with disabilities, who approach the organisation themselves or through some reference. Such aids include wheelchairs, calipers, crutches etc.

Counselling/Support Services for Disabled People
FOD has been serving as a Help-Line for the people with different disabilities, since the very beginning. Counseling and support is offered to anyone who approaches FOD, in the form of sharing experiences and patient hearing. FOD entertains the queries of such people on disability and related issues and guides them aptly through different modes of communication.

Members are invited to visit hospitals and institutions to provide psychological support to people going through the trauma of recently acquired disabilities. Such psychosocial interventions motivate individuals in fighting their limitations and inspire them to face challenges with increased vigour.

Recreational Activities for Disabled
FOD believes that people with disabilities from weaker sections also have the right to rejuvenate themselves. Keeping this in mind, FOD arranges outings and excursions for those who cannot afford or manage to get out of their immediate environment. Periodic meetings or get-togethers also provide a forum for the members to interact and demonstrate their talents through cultural activities. As disability restricts a person's world to his immediate surroundings, trips, long or short, break monotony in one's life, rejuvenate him and prepare him for a fresh start. Time and again, FOD has been arranging tours for economically weaker people with disabilities.

Gyan Path, 2006:
FOD has also added a new dimension to its services by sponsoring education (school fees, uniform and books) of wards of disabled parents or disabled students themselves with emphasis on girl child. In the past one year, seven students have been supported under Gyan Path.
